Fall2011 Ready-to-Wear: Tommy Hilfiger

For his Fall 2011 collection, Tommy Hilfiger flipped his signature preppy look by throwing in a few late 60's jet-set rock star girlfriend references. Deep rich colors (navy, burgundy, gray) mixed with herringbone, plaid, knits and suede added up to some funked-up classics.

Fall2011 Ready-to-Wear: Prabal Gurung

Using Miss Havisham, a character in one of his favorite novels Great Expectations as his muse, Prabal Gurung created a collection he felt Miss H would have worn in her youth; pieces that are reserved for an undone lady you wouldn't want to double-cross, she is more spice than sugar.

Jolts of color such as red and pink, a coat with an ombre effect in shades of violet, orchid and pale lavender, along with cream and gray gave depth to black and white which anchored the collection. The fabric - silk and satin - was treated until it achieved a broken-in quality, similar to Miss H's wedding dress she wore around her decaying world until it was threadbare.

Fall2011 Ready-to-Wear: Jason Wu

Jason Wu said he was in a "lace state of mind"....well it showed with the touches of lace on day wear and evening dresses, and also used to create masks. His sportswear was tailored impeccably, worthy of any lady. Inspired by a book about the restoration of Versailles; there were touches of gold leaf, and the return of the feather dress which all added up to a restrained opulence.
