Fall2011 Ready-to-Wear: Prabal Gurung

Using Miss Havisham, a character in one of his favorite novels Great Expectations as his muse, Prabal Gurung created a collection he felt Miss H would have worn in her youth; pieces that are reserved for an undone lady you wouldn't want to double-cross, she is more spice than sugar.

Jolts of color such as red and pink, a coat with an ombre effect in shades of violet, orchid and pale lavender, along with cream and gray gave depth to black and white which anchored the collection. The fabric - silk and satin - was treated until it achieved a broken-in quality, similar to Miss H's wedding dress she wore around her decaying world until it was threadbare.
